It is free if you know where to look. 
Its difficult to download from Hulu with free software.GetFLV and TubeDigger are reportedly the best.Personally,I think TubeDigger is extremely interesting.You just have to type in the URL and play the video in the in built browser,and it starts downloading.
With Tubedigger you can download ANY video from ANYWHERE off the Net.
Note : GetFLV is not free.
