Dont think it can..... even if it did... the serrated portion would wear away quickly...... Also didnt it say that the fat was stored in the hilt of the sword??

Sakabatou? If you mean reversed edged sword, then.... No. they didnt exist.

Heres Wiki...

Quote

Although the origin of the sakabatō is the cause of some confusion amongst fans, Watsuki has stated in an interview that the sakabatō was his creation. There is no record of reverse-bladed katana ever having been used historically in Japan and there is no existing school of swordsmanship that employs them. However, since the manga was published, non-functional sakabatō have been produced for purchase by collectors and fans.

Of course they were not used by swordsmen.... and who would teach you to fight with a reversed blade?

Besides the art of Japanese Swordmaking has been dying out for a long time..... the ones you will find are usually weak and brittle when compared to the high quality of swords made by the real masters of the craft.

Real high quality swords may take a week or more to forge.... with the master and his apprentice working on it in turns.....

A week...?? Great... until now I thought it took the sword maker at least one month to make a good sword.

These swords are made with a lot of patience. It is made by alternating layers of hard and soft steel. It takes a good deal of time as I know...

Technically there is no fixed time for this. But the quality of the swor depends on the number of layers. The best swords may have upto a million layers or more and that kind of work may take longer then a week of course... but most are forged in a week... (This is what I have heard from my teacher here)

i think it normally takes close to 2-3 weeks, or even a month, depending on the quality of swords...

My friend and I used to argue over who gets Kenshin... We finally turned to our mutual friend and asked her which one of us gets Kenshin, and she very nervously says... "Kaoru???"  It was a very sad day for us...

It give me a really feel of Hindi movies... All dialouges and much less action... However, the actions in RK esp the Kenshin types are ultimate after you ask for me... and therefore it wins greater than by any Hindi film with a massive gap... I enjoyed it.
