GENRE:

Romance, Drama, Science Fiction

PLOT:

Plot is about 2 adolescents who fall in love during a war...... and their struggle with the circumstances that they find themselves in......

Shuji is a high school student...... and the main character in the story...... the entire anime is basically a collection of his memories and is narrated by him through a series of flashbacks.......

Chise is Shujis girlfriend....... She has just proposed to him recently....... she is extremely shy and also clumsy..... this makes it even harder for her to deal with Shujis insensitivity.......

However the feelings they both have for each other are genuine and eventually they overcome the little hurdles one by one as the anime progresses.......

One day bombers from an unknown foreign power attack a town where Shuji has gone to visit with his friends....... all is Chaos....... all of a sudden a small object appears in the sky which immediately shoots down all of the enemy bombers.......

Shuji is wandering through the wrecked city when he comes upon Chise who has apparently been fused with metal wings and weapons.......

She tells him that she has been made into the Ultimate Weapon by the Japanese Self Defence Force in order to defeat the enemies......

Shuji is forced to face the fact that the girl he loves is now a weapon of mass destruction......

How will they go on? What does the future hold? When does this terrible war end? How many more friends and other innocent people must die?

RECOMMENDED AUDIENCE:

This anime is meant for viewers aged 16+ and with a strong heart........Keep a lot of tissues handy....... This anime WILL make you cry.........unless you're as cold hearted as me......

PLUS POINTS:

A Storyline that is simply amazing....... especially the way the relationship between Chise and Shuji is portrayed.........

A narration style that fits the plot perfectly.......

Great animation.... the faded colors only add to the atmosphere (as expected from GONZO).........

Character development is also excellent (Not something we see much of these days).........

Ah Megami Sama!

ALSO CALLED

1.  Ah My Goddess!

GENRE

Fantasy, Romance, Comedy

PLOT

The anime begins with a boy named Keiichi Morisato  who is shown to have the worst luck in the world. Morisato is always taken advantage of by others due to his exceptionally good nature and his kind heart.

One day his Sempai leave him in charge of cleaning up the dorm while they are off partying (Morisato of course does not protest). After cleaning up, he decides to order food for himself.

However as luck would have it, he had been selected by Yggdrasil (Heavens Supercomputer) to be granted one wish for all his good deeds in the face of such bad luck. His phone is automatically connected to the Goddess Helpline but he assumes that it is a wrong number and hangs up.

Suddenly to his great surprise, a Goddess by the name of Belldandy appears from inside his mirror and offers to grant him any wish (after showing him her business card!). Keiichi immediately assumes that his Sempai are playing a joke on him and off the top of his head wishes that a Goddess like Belldandy would live with him forever. After a brief (and destructive) consultation with the heavens, Belldandy tells him his wish has been granted. And thus begins the start of Keiichi's new life.

The series introduces several entertaining side characters as it progresses and in reality it is these side characters that make the anime into the wonderful show it really is.

PLUS POINTS

The allure of Ah My Goddess! lies in the absolute sincerity and honesty that all of its characters possess.

Imagine the situation - a boy half heartedly makes a wish and a second later, he and a girl he doesn't know are contractually bound together forever.
Sure, you've most likely seen a similar setting before - girl meets boy and then the two live together in a house full of girls that share an interest in the relationship - but Ah My Goddess!  is unique in the heart warming sincerity and openness that each of its characters possess. Most refreshingly, the focus is on the positive instead of every obsessive detail that most comedic romances use as slapstick.

This anime has a little bit of everything in it, some intrigue and some evil (very small doses), lots of magic, lots of candy-flossy sweet moments, humor of all varieties and it expounds good morals for all the children. Of course there are plenty of pretty women also…… however the level of Ecchiness is not too high, but even so it is satisfying.

One more thing about the anime was the excellent music. I fell in love with the Opening and Ending themes for the anime as soon as I heard them. I could hum them and even knew the lyrics off by heart at one point in time. However the Music for the OVA’s is pretty low quality so don’t form an opinion if you watch those first.
