Do you watch the series related sequels too?
« on: February 02, 2010, 12:12:43 PM »
Do you people watch each and every released sequel of an anime series?
Example: an anime has 2 sequels and later has two or three ova's. do you watch all of the related stuff for an anime you collect or have seen before?

I try to watch as much related stuff as I can. If an anime series or movie has a sequel or relation I try to watch those. I've seen that the sequels are many a time fun to watch.

Some sequels do tend to keep dragging on and on and loose their appeal, but i try to watch those too. ex: Prince of Tennis. the series was good, and so was the next two OVA's. but movie and the newly released OVA is just plain yawn fest.

only if they have something new to add
PoT/last couple of one piece movies/Ranma/naruto etc were useless

on the other hand...detective conan/city hunter movies were more entertaining than the series

Series: Depends on how the original series ended. If the original series was disappointing, then there is a little chance that the sequel would be any better.

OVAs: At times OVAs are a continuation of the original series, for instance - Tenjho Tenge, Wolf's Rain. I follow these. Usually skip the side stories, unless they contribute to the show.

Movies: Movies usually have higher production value and budget. I follow these.

Not immediately after I finish an anime. I watch sequels at my leisure, though, if I've watched the original anime, I'm almost sure to watch the sequel as well, eventually.
I usually watch related OVAs and the like if I find myself reminiscing about an anime I'd completed a while ago and want more new material to watch.
Movies, on the other hand, I treat as independent from thee aime they're based off. Whether or not I watch a movie associated with an anime series doesn't depend on whether or not I enjoyed the anime to begin with...

I don't leave anything related to the series unwatched, whether it's Special or OVA or a Movie i watch them all, but only if they all are dubbed in english.  :D

If it's a long series like Ranma, Naruto, etc., and I've read the manga and know that there's supposed to be more to it, then yes. In cases like that, it's more of a continuation of the series rather than a sequel, I guess.

Other than that though, I'm always a little leery of sequels but often try them anyway.

Off course I do, if I like a series I'll want more and if it isn't that great I want to leave it a chance.

If the original is good; I tend to follow the sequel. If it sucks; I give it a second chance.
