Original vs Abridged
« on: December 30, 2011, 12:40:07 PM »
Many people have seen the various renditions of what one man calls "Abridging"
Yes, I'm talking specifically about a man who runs by the Alias of Little Kuriboh
who by his one ambitions decided to take a popular anime and recreate it using
an awful lot of "witty humor" to retell the story and reshape the series as he
sees fit.
It first started with Yu-Gi-Oh!
Then it evolved into Naruto.
And then it became similarly popular DragonBall Z (TeamFourStar)
Then he got other people involved and began working on other series claiming
it to help the anime industry retain and in some cases gain popularity.
"After all the Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th anniversary movie was testament to that theory."

Recently he has been branching off into a series of one-shot parodies mimicing
Evangelion
Digimon
Yu-Gi-Oh! "Season 0"
Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds
and several more are being put into future plans.

Now, speaking for the original versus the "Abridged" version do you believe these have any impact on future anime and/or serve to provide a certain kind of entertainment that perhaps Japan should be listening to-- and maybe in their own way they're starting to...
(i.e. Carnival Phantasm)

-Should we see more parody-based anime from Japan or more Abridged series from a British guy in his late 20s? >_<

I think he should focus on Yugioh Abriged for now, his other yugioh stuff was great, but his evangelion was just... awful... i probably could have wrote better jokes while passed-out, i realise he doesn't like it, but the more you hate something = usually better jokes making fun of it, the only thing i laughed at was the Simpsons references (first time simpsons made me laugh in years though). Other than that I think his yugioh abridged series is great (actually got me to watch the rest of the series that i never finished as a kid), and I like his work with TFS. Personally though, I'd like it if there was some kind of screening process for some certain other abridgers though, not mentioning anyone in particular, but this person can't voice-act (even for humour), all he does is yell, and impersonate Sean Connery(poorly)... and the only jokes he makes are about sex and drugs...

---This isn't a very ACTIVE website is it?  There's what 5 people using it?
Anyways.  LK's the Godfather of the Abridged series, however,
the thing I've been asking myself this whole time is this:
He's successfully created something the world has recognized him for.
He has improved his voice acting skills and his video editing skills.
He has create a TEAM of "Abridgers" calling the "Abridging Community"
He has even managed to get married to one his "Abridging" companions.
He has created several music videos spoofing some very recognizable songs- like weird al yanklovic
He has even managed to get people to create animated videos for him to which
he provides his own touches to and even makes fun of them afterwards.

--Why isnt this guy trying to get into a professional field using his experience
with this series to actually do something that really DOES make him money?

Just a thought?  How about use his talented resources to create his OWN marketable series?
Little Kuriboh (Martin Billany) Presents: "Name of Animation" on YouTube Channel.
Markets TShirts and DVDs... and so on.  Using his fame to create a "real" name for himself?

"He's just a fan..."
