I'm new here and I'm looking to expand my horizon when it comes to anime. Can someone please recommend any good mecha or romance anime? Thanks

Full Metal Panic! might work for you. It has a little of both, mecha and romance... with some pretty decent action and comedy to boot.

Well it was nice when I watched it :) Although the turn of events, in my opinion, in the ending was quite unrealistic and fast-paced. Anyhow, you will not forget the romantic moments between the Kazuki and Tokiko especially...

Eureka 7, has both as does Full Metal Panic, which has two seasons and a comedy Filler called Fomuffu, all are great!

Linebarrels of Iron has both, not as good but still fun. There are a ton more.
