I certainly think so. Like anything creative, better technology will extend the limits of what the animators are capable of and it will then add to everything from visual effects to storyline.

Absolutely :D

But Technology will only help improve the visual and aural aspect of the Anime. What is actually withing the anime depends on the producer and director. If they are bad, no matter now good a technology you use, you can't make it work.

For example, Karas. Karas had the most amazing CGI graphics ever seen at that time. Yet, it was a pain to watch the movie... the CGI was the only thing that hooked me to it. The rest was a total disappointment.

So, if Technology is in the right hands and used by the right minds, there is no doubt the Anime will be better :)

Of course! Animes will become much better with the rate of technological advancement we have today, no doubt about it.

There might even come a time where movies won't have any human actors on the screen, except for the voices. FF, Spirit Within have already started it. Even though there are many bad criticisms from the movie, it is already groundbreaking for animes to step into the movie world and not just on TV screens.

I couldn't agree more, it's got to produce a noticeable improvement. Look at the latest film, "Avatar" and imagine Pokomon and the like suitably converted.

Maybe it's because I now hate pokemon... but I'd never let anyone waste money on making something like pokemon using Graphics and Special Effects of Avatar...

Forgive me for butting in to this dated topic because it was a great question to ask anime lovers

Innovations in graphics and sound engineering would indeed pave the way towards better anime (as what posters put) PROVIDED that everything are presented and directed nicely (not to the point that everything is just glitters and stuff). Although in my honesty, I don't feel comfortable if some good 'ol 90's anime be recreated in 3D CGI environment O_O

wonder if we can see anime in life like size and colour in 3D (not the current fake 3d)... like a totally immersive experience.

and to be able to interact with the characters and the environment. such imagination, but who knows? maybe the realm of anime will also become 4D and will somehow replace reality. oh no, i don't want to think how many people will get hooked on that. i mean, hooked in a very high degree that the real essence of life is forgotten. but let's see what will come. :)

No, it won't make better anime. Anime is a story and only the maker of the story can make it good, not the animation's. The animation is only 1 part of the anime.

I wouldn't think technology alone would make anime better now a combination of technology and a good writing, story, and good character development will make anime better.
