권보아 (Kwon BoA) is a singer/dancer with a slight R&B edge to her music. Originally from Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, BoA was discovered at the age of 11 as part of a nationwide talent search. She followed her 2nd oldest brother to an SM Entertainment office where he was auditioning to become a singer. Unfortunately for her brother, BoA was discovered instead. While securing great popularity in Korea, she has also managed great success in the Japanese music industry. In 2001, at the age of 13, she released her début single “ID; Peace B†to the Japanese market. Her début single demonstrated surprising talent for someone so young. Her success has been partly due to her abilities to quickly learn the Japanese and English languages. This is also the reason for some of her songs having a large number of alternate versions (various language and remix versions). BoA has released a number of albums in both Korea and Japan, remaining popular with a mixture of infectious upbeat melodies and sweeping ballads. She is currently promoting in Japan with her latest album, “The Face†that later reached #1 on the Oricon Charts. BoA is also planning to début in the US in mid-2008.
"Listen to My Heart" is BoA's fourth single. It is her breakthrough single into Japan, reaching number five on the Oricon charts. It is also her second highest selling single.
Valenti was released in 2003 and is BoA's highest selling Japanese album (excluding overseas sales) and sold over 1.2 million copies.Valenti debuted at number on the weekly charts with over 615,000 copies in its first week. It was also number one in its second week with another 222,000 copies sold. Valenti has been certified million by the RIAJ.
Outgrow is BoA's 4th original Japanese album. The album features the singles Do the Motion, Make a Secret, Dakishimeru, and Everlasting. The album also features the track "First Snow" from BoA's special digital single, Merry Christmas from BoA. Several of the album's songs have either been written or composed by BoA herself.
Made in Twenty (20) is the fifth studio album by South Korean pop singer BoA. It was released on 17 January 2007 on Avex Trax Records. The title of the album refers to the fact that this is her first album since leaving her teenage years and her first album made in her 20s - specifically, when she was twenty years old. The album debuted with first-week sales of 182,009 copies, debuting at #1.
K-pop Selection was BoA's first Japanese compilation album. It was a collection of her Korean songs released in Japan (in the original Korean). It also had a "Perfect Edition" that came with several music videos.
Best of Soul (released as BEST OF SOUL) is Korean pop singer BoA's second Japanese greatest hits album. This is her first greatest hits album to contain her Japanese songs. The album was released on February 2, 2005 under Avex Trax. The album contains singles from her debut Japanese album, Listen to My Heart to her third album, Love & Honesty. It also contains two singles that were released for the album, "Quincy / Kono Yo no Shirushi" and "Meri Kuri". The album was released in two versions; the regular stranded CD version and a "perfect" version, which was packaged with a DVD that contained a few of her music videos. Best of Soul is BoA's fourth album to attain the number one position and was certified million by the Recording Industry Association of Japan.
Peace B. Remixes is BoA's first Japanese remix album.
Next World was BoA's second remix album after her Peace B. Remixes album in 2002. It featured many remixes of her hit songs, and collection of several English version of her songs from previous singles.
ID; Peace B is BoA's debut Korean album. It peaked at #10 in the Korean album chart. ID; Peace B was released in Japan, two months after her Japanese debut. It reached #30 in Oricon chart. ID; Peace B sold 166,452 copies nationwide making it the fifty-ninth best selling album of 2000 in Korea.
"Amazing Kiss" is BoA's 2nd single in Japan. It was released July 25, 2001 and went to number 23 on the Oricon chart.
"Kimochiwa Tsutawaru" (Expressing My Feelings) is BoA's third single in Japan. It reached number 15 on the Oricon charts.
Listen to My Heart is the debut Japanese album by BoA. Released in 2002, it debuted at number one on the Oricon Charts during the time of tension during the 2002 FIFA World Cup hosted by both Korea and Japan. It also reached #12 on yearly charts in Japan of 2002. It stayed on the Oricon Charts for 91 weeks. This album marks the first time that BoA has contributed to her albums by writing and composing.
"Every Heart: Minna no Kimochi" (Every Heart - Everyone's Feelings) is BoA's fifth single. It was featured on the hit anime, Inuyasha, as the fourth ending theme song. This was released on the same day as her Japanese debut album Listen to My Heart and reached number ten on the Oricon singles chart.
