well i dont attend japanese classes but my friend teaches me and sometimes i learn the words while cing the anime.

Since I am about to complete one year of Japanese classes, I should add more words to this list. They are pretty common...

Numbers:
1- ichi
2- ni
3- san
4- yon
5- go
6- roku
7- nana
8- hachi
9- Kyuu/Ku
10- Ju

Double digit Numbers like 23- ni ju san i.e (2x10)+3=23
100- Hyaku
200- Ni hyaku
300- Sanbyakku
.
.
600- Roppyaku
.
800- Happyaku (pronounced Hapuyaku)
1000- Sen
10000- Man

Adjectives:
Kirei- Beautiful
Hot- Atsui
Cold- Samui
Nagai- Long
Takai- Expensive
Chisai- Small
Ookii- Big
Furui- Old
Atarashi- New
Thick- Atsui
Usui- Thin
Yasui- Cheap
Short- Mijikai

Nichi- West (Nichi also means day)
Higashi- East
Minami- South

Trivia:

Shinigami- Shini means Death and Kami means God. Put together, it stands for death god.  Reference: Shinigami Ryuk in Death Note
Yamaguchi- Yama means Mountain and Kuchi means mouth. So, mouth of a mountain. Reference: Kappei Yamaguchi- Inuyasha/ Ranma/ L's VA. And also the main character in Gokusen.
Yuki -means snow. Reference: Yukina from YYH, the snow child.
Sakura- the name of the national flower of Japan. Reference: Cardcaptor Sakura.
Haruhi- Haru stands for spring. Reference: Suzumiya Haruhi in The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi.
