Card Captor Sakura :: The Movie
« on: May 24, 2007, 04:56:45 PM »
Card Captor Sakura : The Movie is a really interesting cut out from the Card Captor Sakura Series. Here we are introduced to The Arrow Card, Hong Kong and Li's Mother and nutty sisters (Man, I don't wanna ever go to Li's House after seeing Touya and Yukito  :P Or maybe I will  :D). We are also introduced to the fact that Clow Reed had a lover whom he never actually went to be with.

This is a good movie and recommended to all CCS fans and those who can take up the sweetness of the anime. And I would also refer that the Original Japanese version is much much better than the American English version. The English version changes a lot of relationship concepts and the theme altogether making it quiet dull...

Watch the Japanese Version if you want to enjoy a good movie :)

However the Background Music used in both versions is good (and yes, the Background Music is different  for both versions... weird... )

Agreed The japanese version is definitely better. But the movie does not actually run with the series or does it?I'm not sure. The second movie however completes the series.
But this movie is pretty good and it shows us some of clow's past.

hmm??..arrow card?? that got my attention...

Although the anime was a bit Candy-Flossy for my taste, I liked it quite a lot back when it used to air on Cartoon Network

Where can I get this..On Limewire??

Arrow card makes only a brief appearance in the starting before they capture it.However the movie revolves around a lady who is an old rival of clow.I dont know if you can get it on limewire but I got it here>> www.animecravings.com

You are speaking of CCS movie 1. I have seen it and its cool.
But,I feel CCS movie 2 was way better, it starts off after Lee tells sakura bout his feelings and leaves her to go back to china without hearing what Sakura has to say. Itc cute, girly i guess due to the fact that its more lovey dovey sorts  :P. If you are into the Lee-Sakura love story in the second part of CCS, then this movie is a must watch

You know... I expected Lee Sakura Story to be handled in a better way...

Like... it takes a whole card to tell Sakura what she has to do...

Thus, in my opinion, the first movie is definitely better. :)

The first movie always seemed out-of-canon with the rest of the CardCaptor Sakura universe, IMO. It's supposed to take place between episodes 35 and 36, but Syaoran acts completely OoC. He's already developed a pretty obvious crush on Sakura by this point, yet it's not featured anywhere in the movie. If it'd taken place between, say, episodes 25 and 26, I could understand, but it didn't. I also thought the plot was a bit... meh. Clow Reed had some crazy fangirl who goes on a murderous rampage to find him? It's a bit out of nowhere, isn't it? >_>

One good thing about that movie, though, is that you get to see Syaoran's family. They sure are... unique. XD I also like that Nelvana actually gave the option between the Japanese version with subtitles and their butched dub. If they'd done that with the main series, there wouldn't be so much hate for them...

Nevertheless, the Nelvana dub of the series did not see a full release in either North America or Australia. So, that would give Animax Dub less competition.

Actually, the Arrow Card is featured more in the movie than just its capture in the beginning.  The woman featured in the movie... I think her name was Madoushi but I could be wrong about that... has her tied up underwater near the end of the movie, and Sakura uses the Arrow Card to bring down the building she's trapped inside, if I'm remembering correctly.  But she definitely does use it at the end.   -_-;
