This is one of the sweetest animes I have ever seen. Lifted right from the pages of the manga, it takes Watsuki's story, darkens it and fleshes it out with sumptuous natural backdrops, Eastern symbolism and character development that we don't see and actually makes it even more awesome.
There were a few quibbles I had, such as the characterization of Kenshin's fight with the Yaminobu, but those are minor considerations.
Overall, Tsuiokuhen follows the manga and tells the story with vivid imagery in a riveting manner.

Couldn't agree more. I recently gifted a co-worker remastered versions of series I liked (he had asked for a broad spectrum of genres) and this one was right at the top. You don't even have to like anime in general to get your money's worth out of this.

It's easily the best of the entire Rurouni Kenshin franchise, with all the action, characters and story which made the original anime worth watching and without any of the boring slice of life bits which slightly spoiled the second half of the same.
I even preferred Kenshin's English VA in this OVA over the one in the TV anime.
On the whole, a simply amazing anime, whether you're a fan of the series or not.

This one was in the top 3 of every anime site i visited.
Not in a million years would Animax show this, that's the reason i downloaded it :D
The OVA was much better than what i expected and a little  :( in the end.

Next am gonna watch the Series and Movie.

Said it better than I ever could.  This is one of my all-time favorites everything the animation storytelling is all brilliant.  I mean there were few things from manga that I wish could see in this OVA, but hey everything else was so well executed I can't really complain.  It's really a shame studio DEEN had made more crap than masterpieces like this.  Anyways considering double dipping for this and buying the Blu-ray I don't know I just like it that much

I prefer Samurai X OVA rather than TV series. The bgm of Trust & Betrayal is impressive. I'm glad that I could take a glimp of what life people in the past were really living and what they were thinking.
