A RAW file is a video file with original Japanese dub and without any subtitles.
To detect codes used in the video a file, I would suggest
GSpot. Its a free utility which identifies the codec required to play an AVI file and supplies other information as well.
In case of Realmedia videos, the subtitles if present are hard subbed. In other words, embedded within the video. If the video is not showing any subtitles, then its missing.
