Well for older anime I'd prefer the animax dub because it's usually not as heavily edited , but for newer Anime I like US/Canadian dubs. But one American dub that I really like is Nadia the Secret of Blue Water I can't get over ho good that dub is.

I've been listening to the Nodame Cantabile dub. It's very good, except for that high pitched boy. Yikes.

CCS, like everyone else. The US version is not good at all. Then, I think Fairy Tail is good too. What do you guys think?

I haven't watched alot of animax (I can't get the channel) but from what I've heard Animax blows us dubs out of the water. I wish they'd do yu-gi-oh! I want to see arrogant Yami!

I am new to Animax dubs.
I WILL say that A dub is better than no dub.
That's at least how it is with me and Hayate no Gotoku.
(Hayate the Combat Butler.)
Up until now I've watched the Bandai USA release.
Though having the DVD edition on the disc it is
difficult to watch the series, yet reading the very long text
(Hayate likes to talk... a lot.)
However, I can't say too much yet.  However, from what
I have seen, Hayate in the Japanese version is a completely
different character than the one being portrayed in the
Animax Dub.  I do understand that they took a lot of liberties
in providing an English adaptation to the series, and they're
for the most part faithful to the intent of the series, but
somehow the voice actor playing Hayate, the actresses playing
Nagi and Maria all sound very different than the Japanese voices
and I'm speaking about the attitude of the character not just
the voice.  Japanese Hayate is much more lax in his expressions
(making him seem much more comical) while the Animax version
makes him seem so much more tense and serious.

Perhaps this is only an interpretation, but I have seen numerous
series both subbed and dubbed.  The very most important
factor playing into re-dubbing an animated series is not to
simply play a character, but to become that character.

As I have seen in previous Pioneer releases of Carcaptor Sakura
the Animax dub there was actually quite faithful not only to the
show, but the characters.  So I know the difference there.

Hmmm! After seeing some of the comments here, I shall have to pay a lot more attention to Animax Dubs. I'd played the Cardcaptor Sakura some time before for my daughter, and she liked it. But to hear that Animax is better makes me want to look again at that series.

I don't watch anime which are dubbed. I prefer to watch Anime in their Orginal Japanese Audio. The feel I get from Orginal Audio format is better than the Dubbed version.

On top of that, when any anime is dubbed, the meaning and expression of the sentences slightly change. That altogether doesn't comply with me.

I Have to agree that Shonen Onmyoji is better with animax and I usually like animax dubs but I just watched maid sama with the animax dub and it sucked.

Animax dubs of anime such as Hayate the combat butler and a load of others are great. I love the fact the animax dubs anime titles way more than US companies. sometimes animax dubs are simply available earlier than US dubs and once you started with one the other seems like a knockoff. I guess it doesn't matter in what language you start watching an anime. if you started you should end with the same dub version/ subs

Unfortunately, the only Animax vs US dub comparison I can make is regarding Fairy Tail, and I prefer the US version by far...
I haven't seen the Cardcaptor Sakura Animax dub, but I can't imagine it being worse than the totally butchered US dub.

i have only knowingly heard the animax dub on two shows. and i'm in the middle on one and disliked it on the other, on Inuyasha i disliked the animax completely the voices seemed flat like they were racing through the script not bothering to put anykind of feeling behind it.

on Kaichou wa maid sama it was ok. i liked some of it disliked others. the main character was cast really well but some of the others not so much, the main issue i had the voice that did the main character sounded like the same voice for four of the other female characters with slightly different pitches. the guys however werent that great. its a great show though. i definately suggest watching it with subs. but its nice to not have to read whats being said if your tired and trying to go to sleep. the voices werent horrible except for one character who was flat out bad just not great.
