Quote
10-year old Negi Springfield is a wizard-in-training, and needs only to pass one more test in order to become a Master Wizard. Unfortunately, his final task is a bizarre one- to become a English teacher at an all-females boarding school. As soon as he arrives, he completely embarasses one of his students, Asuna Kagurazaka, and replaces the teacher she loves, which garners her hatred. To make matters worse, Asuna learns that Negi is a wizard,and promises to tell unless he helps her out. But, unfortunately, circumstances force them to work together to do many things, from fighting evil wizards to helping the class pass their final exam, with a lot of humor, magic, and romances thrown in.

My daughter loved the first series. As the story progressed, she was able to catch the subthreads that were building up toward a major plot development. So count me a fan.

In both cases where Akamatsu's Manga was transformed into an anime, they completely destroyed it.
The was Love Hina.  Mind you it wasn't really that bad the further along they went, but it did start off
horribly.  Not even close to being as good as Akamatsu's works.

Then there was Negima.  In one word I'd have to say that Season one was "embarrassing".  Embarrassing to watch, embarrassing that they made it, and embarrassing they even passed it as potential entertainment.
The second attempt was a light redemption being that they were able to resurrect the original humor of Akamatsu's Manga, which was one reason Love Hina was more successful to start with in my opinion.  However, it one could not accept the focus change that Negi was no longer the Main objective of the anime.  It clearly was all about the girls.  Significant characters were missing as well.  That never sat well with me.

Tenchi Muyo had it's own mess.  The fact that not a single season had any anchor on the one following really hurt that series.  Had the series been a continuous storyline from where the initial season left off, I think Tenchi could've been really quite successful.  I must say I enjoyed Universe, bits of Tokyo, and a few of the movies.  However after that it became ridiculous.

By the way.  Does anyone remember a series created by the same team as Tenchi called "Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure"?

Negima audience was mostly young adults, so most 20+ people would find it dull and boring. Similar to Love Hina. I didn't go too far with Negima due to the predictablity of the story. A fun read if you're stranded on an island with no internet connection and only 1 Manga. Harem is fun when the guy recieving the harem is not shorter as well as wayyyy to young to take advantage of the situation ;_;

Plus, well, romances with 10 year olds involved are something of a turning off factor for more mature audiences.

Among the few harems that I have ever enjoyed viewing, Ouran Highschool has stood out, albeit it being reverse-harem.
