Anime based on manga. The quote is from wikipedia.
Story:
Quote
When thirty-year-old Daikichi returns home for his grandfather's funeral he learns about the existence of Rin, his grandfather's illegitimate six-year-old daughter by an unknown mother. The girl is an embarrassment to all his relatives and is treated as an outcast. Annoyed by their attitude, Daikichi decides to take care of Rin himself, even though he is single and has no experience raising a child.

Sometimes We get a show that is reccomendable to casual viewers and non-viewers. For me, this is the best one in a while.

It's been really good so far, as good as the manga series. You really have to hand it to Daikichi for taking something like that on. It takes a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and determination to take care of a child; even more for one who isn't yours.

This anime was like a breath of fresh air... from the usual anime show being dished out lately.

Some episodes are a tear jerker. Too emotional. The kid is so innocent.

It is amazing how these episodes weave between little-kid-outlook and grown-up-problems, without feeling like theres some kind of jarring theme-change.

The expressions Rin makes are adorable.

I finished watching this, and while it was good, they make more since it stops mid way through the manga. Probably won't happen though.

I love this particular one. It hasn't had time to get dubbed. But it is amazingly gentle and yet captivating.

The Japanese have no trouble dealing with real-life situations and starting conversations about difficult topics. This anime shows the difficulty of losing a parent, being "unwanted", and adjusting to a new and 'different' kind of family. It reassures children that their family, no matter what 'shape' it might have, is legitimate and important.
